To mark the launch of our new brand and website, we sat down with Tony Iacobelli, CCET's founding Executive Director. Tony led the organization from June 2023 to March 2026, and we asked him to share the origin story of CCET.
Ontario homeowners looking to upgrade their homes' energy efficiency have flexible rebates available to them through the Home Renovation Savings program.
Below is a comprehensive list of all the resources and opportunities, rebates, loans, grants and incentives to get you on the path to an energy efficient home. We can assist and help you determine what programs and resources you are eligible for to ensure you benefit from all the energy savings you can.
The Ontario Electricity Rebate (“OER”) provides eligible customers with a 23.5% reduction on the amount of their bill before HST.
Who is eligible:
1. Residential and Small Commercial customers using less than 50kW
2. Commercial accounts that are greater than 50 kW but use less than 250,000 kWh annually.
Enbridge and Save on Energy's Home Winterproofing Program offers energy-saving upgrades at no cost. If your home and household income levels qualify, you’ll be eligible for insulation, draft proofing, ENERGY STAR® certified appliances and more.
Who is eligible:
1. You have an Enbridge Gas account in your name.
2. Your home is heated with a natural gas furnace or boiler.
3. You received other assistance in the past 12 months.
4. You own, rent or lease a residence and meet the specific household income limits.
Save on Energy's Energy Affordability Program provides support to income-eligible electricity consumers by helping them to better manage their monthly electricity costs and to increase their home comfort. They offer free energy needs assessments, replacement appliances, energy upgrades and Energy Saving Kits.
Who is eligible:
1. You are a resident of an eligible Social Housing property
2. You are an on-reserve community member.
3. You received other assistance in the past 12 months.
4. You own, rent or lease a residence and meet the specific household income limits.
Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy, with support from the Ontario Government, have partnered to launch the new Home Renovation Savings™ program to help Ontarians improve home energy efficiency and comfort.
Get rebates to do multiple upgrades at once for things like heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage, insulation, air sealing, smart thermostats, windows, doors, air sealing and appliances.
Through the Government of Canada, you may be eligible to receive an upfront payment of up to $10,000 to switch from oil heating to new, energy-efficient heat pumps if:
1. You are a Canadian homeowner
2. You heat your home with oil
3. Your household income is at or below the median household after-tax income
4. You meet all eligibility criteria
Residents in Ontario can apply to get this upfront payment through the Energy Affordability Program.
If you reside in Alberta, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, get this payment through the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program.
If you reside in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Yukon, visit our participating provinces/territories page for information, as details vary.
The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program is offered to low-income customers facing disconnection of service. LEAP grants are paid direct to the utility for assistance with an arrears balance. The Ontario Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) pays up to $650 of the amount owing on your bill and up to $780 if your home uses electric heat.
To apply, you must be named on the bill, live at the service address on the bill, and you must owe more than $100.00 in arrears (amounts owing already past the due date).
United Way Simcoe Muskoka is pleased to accept LEAP applications online through our secure self-service portal for a select number of utility partners.
You may submit an application for the following utility providers:
- Hydro One Networks
- Enbridge Gas
- EPCOR Natural Gas Limited
- EPCOR Electricity Distribution Ontario Inc.
- GrandBridge Energy
- InnPower
- Renfrew Hydro
- Ottawa River Power Corporation
- Hydro Ottawa
Qualified borrowers who purchase a newly constructed energy-efficient home may be eligible to receive a 25% premium refund to support initiatives that promote environmental consciousness and its ongoing protection on the Canada Guaranty mortgage insurance premium paid for qualified borrowers purchasing a newly constructed, energy-efficient home.
Through the Sagen Energy-Efficient Housing Program, homebuyers purchasing a newly constructed energy-efficient home are eligible for premium savings when Sagen mortgage insurance is obtained. You can get a refund of 25% of the Sagen mortgage insurance premium (including applicable provincial sales tax) and it's available on all Sagen mortgage insurance products.
Receive a 1% Interest Rate Discount or a $100 Rebate on a Home Energy Audit With a Qualifying Purchase Through a Fixed Rate Loan Over $5,000.
If you've recently purchased—or plan to purchase—eligible energy-efficient products or services for your home, you could qualify for the RBC Energy Saver Loan. This innovative and green financing solution can help you create a more energy-efficient home while saving on your borrowing costs.
If you’re the customer of an electricity utility and your household size and income meet certain levels, you may qualify for a reduction on your electricity bill through the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP). The OESP will reduce the cost of your household electricity by applying a monthly credit directly to your bill. The credit amount will depend on how many people live in the home and the combined annual household after tax income.
In order to apply, you must:
- Be the account holder for the electricity bill
- Live at the service address for the account
- Include all household members who live at the service address six or more months of the year
From energy efficiency upgrades to new construction, Enbridge offers programs and incentives that can help offset the cost of your projects. They offer expert advice, customized to your business needs, to help find the best solution.
